Niaux Cave - Guided Tour

A unique experience

By torchlight, walking where Cro-Magnon cavemen once lived, you will experience far more than a guided tour! A chance to meet part of your history: the visit will enable you to marvel at the authentic paintings of our ancestors, like nowhere else. A unique experience guaranteed! In the “Salon Noir”, you will find many stunning animal paintings, along with enigmatic geometric symbols, that will transport you to a long-forgotten time.

Low season rates – PLEASE NOTE: prices change during high season (July–August).
BEFORE BOOKING FOR THE NIAUX CAVE, YOU NEED TO KNOW :     

- The guided tour is during about 1h45
- The conservation rules are strict in order to preserve the place
- The cave is neither arranged nor lit 
- The course (2,5km in total) eis rough and must be done in a limited time (1h40) 
- The visit is impossible for people with disabilities
- The visit is strongly discouraged for children under 6 years
- The visit is strongly discouraged for people with mobility difficulties
- Walking sticks, backpacks, canes, strollers, baby carriers, photos are forbidden


            
For young children or people with mobility difficulties, the Prehistory Park of Tarascon-sur-Ariège is the ideal place to visit with its facsimiles and many fun workshops !


WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW :
It is mandatory to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the visit.Any delay will result in the permanent loss of your places. The Niaux cave cannot be held responsible for any delay related to traffic conditions. inquire about the state of the traffic (accident, work, traffic jams, ...) Traffic jam is recurrent on the road to Niaux !


      Walking shoes are needed for the visit

       Warm clothing is recommended (temperature 12°C)
